Doncaster Premier Sale Review

Mount Nelson ex Lady Gin
We offered five yearlings at the recent Doncaster Premier Sale and sold all five.  Unfortunately Lot 138 the colt by Royal Applause ex Eclaircie developed a foot abscess at the sale and had to be withdrawn.  He will now go to the Tattersalls December Yearling Sale. In addition to the horses that we sold we bought five for next year's Breeze Up Sales.  They are all exciting prospects and their photographs are on the left hand side of this report.

Lot 34 the Sleeping Indian filly out of American Rouge sold to Karl Burke for £15,000.  The other Sleeping Indian in our draft, Lot 162 a colt out of Flora Burn made £13,000 and was sold to Middleham Park Racing.  He will be trained by Kevin Ryan who has done so well with the progeny of the sire.
Cape Cross ex Thiella

On the second day the Shamardal ex Nilassiba filly was bought for £42,000 by Blandford Bloodstock.  She will be returning to Hillwood to breeze next spring in new ownership.  Lot 420 the Dutch Art filly out of Spunger was sold to Tim Easterby for just £10,500.  She looked a very precocious two year old type and could not be with a better trainer of early season two year old types.  Our final offering, Lot 436 a colt by Haafhd ex Sweet Ludy was not sold in the ring but was subsequently sold privately to Mick Easterby.

Overall the sale was a solid start to the major European Yearling Sales season.  Despite the noticeable abscence of some of the larger players there was a strong demand for athletic, correct individuals.
